Aadhar Card Supreme Court Final Verdict

In every country, issues having public interest often handled by the supreme authority. Government does not take any action in matters that could give rise to negative reactions from businesses & individuals. Here the role of Supreme Court comes into play. The same picture was seen recently in the form of Aadhar Card Supreme Court Final Verdict.

Aadhar which is a 12 digit unique identification number is given to each applicant through enrollment process carried at Aadhar Enrollment Centers. If you do not have Aadhar, then you can visit any of the Aadhar Center. The staff at the center will ask you some identification document such as voter id or driving license. During the application process, your Iris eye scan and bio-metric will be taken to increase the integrity of the whole system. Once all the process gets completed, your Card is delivered normally within 30 days at your given address.
People of India were facing severe difficulties due to leakage of personal information. On investigation, it comes into the knowledge that it is the private sector which are the main culprit behind such data theft. As a result, this case was brought into the knowledge of the higher authorities.

In a petition filed for this case in Supreme Court of India, the court has upheld the constitutional section of Aadhar Act whereby private firms was allowed to take Aadhar of individuals while providing various types of services.

Aadhar Card Supreme Court Final Verdict

In its Final Verdict, Supreme Court declare it to be illegal for the private firms asking Aadhar from people. These include firms such as trail, railway and movie ticket reservation private firms. Earlier, these firms took aadhar card download from individuals to sell tickets. Once Aadhar is taken, these are sold to advertising companies that use Aadhar details to market their product. This is a solid marketing technique because it helps in targeted marketing and sale of goods and services easily.

Implications

The Court's final verdict has so many implications in the industry:

1. No private firms can ask for Aadhar from people. Otherwise, they will face severe penalties from the court.
2. People's personal information will remain secure. There is a hope that fraudulent activities will reduce significantly and crime level will also reduce day by day.
3. Advertising companies will not be able to find new customers using Aadhar details. It means they have to look out for new opportunities and means to attract customers and make the sale.
4. Finding new customers will definitely involve hiring more sales and marketing staff which will increase cost of sales.
5. Private firms have to invest heavily in marketing their products and services. Again, this will cause a sharp rise in cost of sales. All these additional cost would be transferred to the end user in the form of rising prices. But keeping in view the privacy of personal information, it is a plausible decision of the Supreme Court.
